Joe Milazzo, director of the Regional Transportation Alliance, called [proposed Richmond-Washington DC rail improvements] “an extraordinarily important project for the southern mid-Atlantic regions of Virginia – and North Carolina as well.” The ability to purchase the Virginia portion of the Raleigh to Richmond high-speed rail corridor is “the biggest development in high-speed rail that points north that I’ve seen,” he said Wednesday in an interview.
